# Scalargame

> Scalargame is a free four-game daily web puzzle set built by Samir Husain at https://www.scalargame.com/. Each puzzle resets on the player’s local date; no account is needed. The app is installable and previously loaded game assets can work offline.

## Quick facts

- Official name: Scalargame (one word). It is the shared home of four distinct browser games: Scalar, Continuum, Whenabouts, and Tectonic.
- Cost and access: all four games are free and immediately playable without registration. Optional accounts add cross-device sync and leaderboards.
- Daily format: the official set is Scalar Countries, Continuum, Whenabouts, and Tectonic Daily Globe. A new set is selected at local midnight.

- [Scalar](https://www.scalargame.com/scalar): Deductive guessing game in the Wordle family. Guess the mystery country, chemical element, or city. Each guess returns structured feedback — exact/hot/near/miss colors plus numerical distance — that narrows the search. Countries is the official daily; Elements and Cities are bonus puzzles.

- [Continuum](https://www.scalargame.com/continuum): Ranking calibration game. You're shown a hidden metric (population, GDP, mountain height, etc.) and must place items in the correct order along a continuum. Trains intuition for scale.

- [Whenabouts](https://www.scalargame.com/whenabouts): Historical timeline puzzle. Place 5 historical events on a fast year scrubber. BCE is supported; exact year earns full credit regardless of the event’s month/day.

- [Tectonic](https://www.scalargame.com/tectonic): Daily 3D geographic jigsaw. Build the world outward from a seed country on a globe. Optional Arcade, Zen, and 200-level [Regions](https://www.scalargame.com/tectonic/regions) modes are also available.

## How to play

- Visit any game URL directly — no sign-up needed.
- A new daily puzzle releases at midnight in each user's local time.
- Optional past-puzzle, bonus, Practice, Arcade, Zen, and Regions modes remain available without affecting official daily progress.
- Optional accounts (Supabase Auth) enable cross-device sync and monthly leaderboards.

## About

- Built solo with React, TypeScript, and Vite. The shared shell, Scalar, Continuum, and Whenabouts use a "thermal e-paper / scientific journal" aesthetic; Tectonic uses an intentionally distinct low-poly terrain/ocean world.
