Geography in three ways

Geography Awareness Week · November 16–20, 2026

Three ways to look at the world. Try a country deduction, a ranking and a globe jigsaw, then compare what helped you think.

Make a little room for curiosity

Allow around 15–20 minutes. Play on your own or in a pair, with one internet-connected browser per person or pair. All three games are free; no account is needed.

This informal, self-guided activity suits geography societies, library adult-learning groups and curious individuals. Slower play is welcome, and one game is enough.

Keep a few private observations on paper or in your own notes. You do not need to submit names, emails, scores or screenshots.

  1. Deduce with Scalar

Guess the mystery country and use the numerical clues to guide your next guess. Explain which clue you are following and why.

Note one clue that changed your thinking.

    Open Scalar

  2. Estimate with Continuum

Read today’s metric before ranking countries: population, area or GDP per capita. Predict where the next country belongs among the revealed values, then place it.

Discuss one comparison that surprised you.

    Open Continuum

  3. Locate with Tectonic

Try the Daily globe activity: place neighbouring countries to build outward from the starting country. Follow the game’s own timer; this activity adds no speed requirement.

Notice whether shape, neighbours or position helped you.

    Open Tectonic

Pause and compare

  • Which kind of clue helped most?
  • Did knowing one country help with another?
  • Which game would you try tomorrow?

Sharing your own spoiler-free result is optional.

A few notes for a shared session

Pair discussion is welcome. Hosts can check device access beforehand and offer observation or discussion as an alternative to playing.

There is no combined score, prize contest or activity leaderboard. Keep raw game scores separate and do not compare different dates. For an informal comparison, agree on the same game, displayed puzzle date, mode and assistance rules. Daily puzzles follow each player’s local date.

Already played? Discuss your existing run or observe a partner. Keep saved progress and device clocks as they are; do not reset them for a new first attempt.

An independent activity from Scalargame. Use it during November 16–20, 2026, or whenever your group wants to explore.
